Blender is still free, and featurewise is growing at a very rapid rate, and since the 2.7ish days, the UI has been improved a lot also, I'm a "Sunday" Blender user still, but few tutorials I see on YT make me want to spend more time in it, if only there were 5-10 extra hours in a day... :(

There is an open source tool called Armor Paint. You are not required to pay if you can compile it yourself. However, it is still in its early stages of development.
I'm eagerly awaiting improvements to Procreate and Armorpaint on iPad. They are unlikely to replace Adobe, but I would support them because they are a one-time payment and affordable.

And, yes, I use and enjoy Blender.

I'm poor as hell, If I can, I'll pirate it. All my assets for daz I get off here or Render-State. I don't have spare money to spend on subscriptions. I got bills and shit. Lol
